Hard Hats, Heavy Hearts 💔⛑️
At this time of year, it’s important to address a sensitive topic.
I recently came across a Sky News report showing that construction workers are four times more likely to die by suicide, with around 7,000 lives lost in the past decade. Those numbers hit me hard because they’re not just statistics. They’re people who felt alone, overwhelmed, or unable to reach out.
It made me think about how many of us quietly carry things we never talk about through fears of judgment or the incorrect narrative of showing weakness. And it reminded me how important it is to stay connected and to actually check in with the people around us. Talking matters. Being there matters. Sometimes just knowing someone cares can make all the difference.
For me, this is a nudge to be more open about how I’m doing, and to pay closer attention to the people in my life, colleagues, friends, and family. A simple “How are you, really?” can open a door someone desperately needs.
If you’re struggling, please know you’re not a burden, and you’re not alone. And if you sense someone else might be finding things tough, reach out. Even a small conversation could change everything.

Let’s keep looking out for each other.
